Rear Axle Shaft Replacement for Toyota Tundra
Compatibility and Specifications
The following rear axle shafts are compatible with the 2009-2020 Toyota Tundra Limited SR5 8 Cyl 4.6L 1URFE: * TEN Factory Replacement Ford Rear Axle Shaft (WEB), part number 4170233 * Toyota OEM Rear Axle Shaft, part number 4211034211 The original rear axle shaft in a 2004 Tundra 4x4 Double Cab measures approximately 33.25 inches. Nitro cut-to-length axles are not suitable for this application.
Installation Instructions
Step 1: Gather tools and materials * Ratchet * 14mm socket * 14mm wrench
Step 2: Remove drive shaft * Locate the four bolts holding the drive shaft to the differential. * Use a ratchet with a 14mm socket on the bolt head and a 14mm wrench on the nut to remove the bolts.
Step 3: Remove rear axle shaft * Once the drive shaft is removed, locate the two bolts holding the rear axle shaft to the differential. * Remove the bolts using the same tools as in Step 2. * Carefully pull the rear axle shaft out of the differential.
Step 4: Install new rear axle shaft * Insert the new rear axle shaft into the differential. * Align the bolt holes and insert the bolts. * Tighten the bolts using the ratchet and socket.
Step 5: Reinstall drive shaft * Align the drive shaft with the differential and insert the bolts. * Tighten the bolts using the ratchet and socket.
Step 6: Check fit and torque * Ensure that the rear axle shaft and drive shaft are properly installed and torqued to specifications. * Refer to your Toyota Tundra service manual for specific torque values.
