Chris Gotterup birdied four straight holes to grab the second-round lead at the Wells Fargo Championship on Friday.
The 2023 Ryder Cup hopeful is seeking his first PGA Tour victory and will take a one-stroke lead over Max Homa, Davis Riley and Ben Griffin into the weekend at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Gotterup, who started the day two strokes behind first-round leader Denny McCarthy, birdied the par-5 7th and then birdied Nos. 10-13 to move to 12 under.
Homa, Riley and Griffin are all one stroke back at 11 under.
McCarthy shot a 1-over 72 on Friday and is now tied for fifth at 10 under.
The third round of the Wells Fargo Championship will begin Saturday at 7:15 a.m. ET.
