An investigation continues into the cause of the crash

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Four people were killed when their single-engine airplane crashed Tuesday near Sundance Airport in Oklahoma City, authorities said.

The Oklahoma City Fire Department said it was called to the scene of a reported plane crash in the 13000 block of North Sara Road just before 1 p.m.

When firefighters arrived, they found the plane engulfed in flames. The fire was extinguished, and the bodies of the four victims were recovered.

The victims' names have not been released, pending notification of their families.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the cause of the crash.

Residents living near Sundance Airport said the incident is something they will never forget.

"It was a loud boom," said one resident, who asked not to be identified. "I looked out my window and saw a plume of smoke coming from the airport."

"It's a tragedy," said another resident. "My heart goes out to the families of the victims."
