Anthony Edwards scored 31 of his 40 points in the third and fourth quarters as the Timberwolves rallied from a six-point halftime deficit to win their summer league opener over the Lakers on Thursday.

Edwards, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2020 NBA draft, was dominant on both ends of the floor. He shot 14-of-23 from the field, including 4-of-8 from three-point range. He also had six rebounds, five assists, and three steals.

Edwards' performance was particularly impressive considering that he had missed the previous two games with a left knee injury. He was clearly rusty at times, but he still managed to make a significant impact on the game.

With Edwards leading the way, the Timberwolves outscored the Lakers 36-18 in the fourth quarter. Edwards scored 10 points in the final period, including a pair of three-pointers.

The Timberwolves will be back in action on Saturday when they face the New York Knicks.

Edwards' performance on Thursday was a reminder of why he was the No. 1 overall pick. He is a dynamic player with a high ceiling. If he can continue to develop, he has the potential to be a star in the NBA.
